Last Day to Comment on .XXX

2007 March 9
by Sabrina Morgan

Today, March 9, is the last day to comment on the proposed .XXX domain extension. If you’re in the adult entertainment industry and/or an adult webmaster, please email ICANN today stating “I am in the adult entertainment industry and I oppose .XXX”.

Comments received on or before March 9, 2007 will be considered at the next scheduled Special Meeting of the ICANN Board so it’s very important that they hear from us today, en masse.

Great post! It is vital to preserve what rights we have left as consenting adults. Thank-you for the reminder.

I agree with Amy! You are so smart to be involved with sexual freedom politics. Everyone one of your pets should kiss you feet and smell your fine stockings for every pearl of wisdom they can read here on your classy blog.

Thank you so much for the reminder on the .XXX extension. As an adult performer I feel it’s important to have our voices heard.

Wow thanks so much for the reminder. I totally forgot about this issue with the triple XXX domains. I really do not like the idea at all.

I can see the reason to stay away from .XXX but it’d be nice to have a seperate top level domain for adult sites as well. I’m all for freedom, and I guess it’d make adult sites targets but… we really need to have more top level domains and stick with them properly (like, we all have personal .COM sites… when .COM was never intented for such)

Geoff, this is true… but to be honest it’s a little late now (10 years later). Even the new TLD extensions have been consistently misused (except the regulated and monitored extensions such as .edu). I don’t like it either, but it’s safe to say at this point that individuals, companies, and organizations aren’t paying much attention to what their top level domain extensions were actually intended for.

If TLDs as a whole were better regulated, it might not be a bad idea to have a domain extension specifically for adult… it’s good advertising to potential customers and gives a pretty clear warning to sensitive viewers. As the proposal stands however it would only serve to financially punish ethical adult webmasters.

Good thoughts, all of you. Thanks for the comments!

Just seeing this today (3/20), I didn’t get a chance to comment. However, I do like the idea of the .xxx extension. One benefit is that as a consumer, I’ll know which address I want to go to (the .xxx one of course!). I wouldn’t force it on any company to comply. However, its sort of like a shopping mall – everything in one place for the consumer to visit.

It’s nice to see another phone sex girl talk about the issues that can effect *so* many. Keep up the good work!
